1/Alistair-re Market Traders

Alistair would like more advertising for the markets, but cost is an issue, They currently have £200 in kitty. one suggestion is a permanent sign at the bottom of town. Esther's views is that this would be opposed as the bottom of town already suffers on Market days, currently Fri, Sat, also now Tuesday, and 1 Sunday each month. Pete Ryeland, who already has A boards on Steamer Quay, suggested contributing to signs, and also leaflets to be placed on dart Ferries. Robert suggested poss signs on DCC road signs, poss A5 leaflet with info. re hidden carparks etc.

Helen said markets are already well advertised on Totnes web site.

questions, suggestions and resolutions.

1/ who will design and fund a leaflet,

2/ what about a calendar showing the years events

3/ looking for distribution before July

* Paul will speak to Ruth, Pete will talk to designers, copy all info to Robert

2/ Fair Trade

As we now have Fair Trade status  we need to tell everyone.  In sept  FT  having a tea party in the Civic Hall and woud like to incorporate traders etc to celebrate FT status. FT issuing general invite to traders who have FT status to have a stall promoting FT.

Suggestions please, also anyone who would lik to support and celebrate it. Sending FT suggestions document to Helen Lovell for general view. FT finances now incorporated into Chamber of C Banking status (ring fenced) and Karen to be co-opted as signatory.

3/ "Made In Totnes"

Richard presenting and proposing the view of "Made in etc" as a Unique Selling Point for Totnes,  as in visitors wanting to buy something from Totnes, but which large co: would support it? Suggestions- ( I think by Leslie) bStickers for Conkers, Roly's Fudge etc. Brand for M.I.T.poss a swing tag to be added to goods.

Resolution design logo first, then distribute and charge for a) swing tag, b) sticker.

Issues arising

1/ Policing that it is made in Totnes

2/ Asking for design for Brand Totnes need graphic artist, Ez approaching Marcus(son), bit busy at 'mo, but also Kingfisher who have said they'll get someone on the case.

4/ Christmas Festival  - item postponed

5/ Holly -Totnes food link - works for Transition Town Totnes (TTT)

Campaign to protect rural England(CPR) - 19 reports on different towns ability to stock local food. Totnes quite high

Problems- Small producers trying to distribute individually, but also retailers reluctant to deal with small suppliers because of paperwork. so try and get retailers and suppliers together on June 30th at the Methodist Hall pm. (to be decided). Holly would like the Chamber to spread message of this event.

Also necessary to define local, eg 30 mile radius?

Robert trying to get together with Holly re: local food procurement South hams. .

Pete Ryeland suggested "Food Hub" (eg St. Johns school), where suppliers upload images and people buy. Robert mentioned ATMOS.

Next meeting of the Executive group will be Tuesday 28th June 5.30 for 6pm at Paul’s house (Above Harlequin Book Shop)
