Top folk singer Emily Askew and her band kick off the new Totnes Early Music season with a programme based on Alchemy, their first album together which was hailed by The Times as “one of the albums of the year”.
The band fuses medieval and renaissance songs with modern folk styles, and comprises singer/guitarist/fiddler Jamie Roberts, fiddler/viola d’amore player John Dipper and percussionist Simon Whittaker alongside Emily herself..
Multi-instrumentalist Emily moves effortlessly between the folk and early music worlds, and plays vielle, shawm, bagpipes, recorders and medieval harp. She has performed with The Artisans, The Dufay Collective, Joglaresa, and the Medieval Babes as well as The Askew Sisters of course..
The concert starts at 7.30pm and takes place in St. Mary’s Church Totnes.
